Applications are open for the Andrey Gromyko Young CIS International Affairs Competition 2022


Application Deadline: May 12, 2022


Students and graduates of higher education institutions, graduate students, scientists, teachers, journalists, analysts, business specialists, representatives of public organizations, diplomats - historians, economists, political scientists, lawyers, sociologists, philosophers can take part in the competition.

To participate in the competition, you must submit an application on the website by May 12, 2022, attaching your unpublished scientific article (analytical note, scientific report, journalistic essay).


Stages of implementation:

Finalist Forum – July 2022

Finalist Awards – July 2022


Topics of competition works:

  • modern international relations and integration projects in the post-Soviet space: the Union State of Belarus and Russia, the EAEU, the CIS, the CSTO;

  • sanctions as a tool of geopolitics: problems of legitimacy and methods of counteraction;

  • problems of interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states in the CIS space;

  • risks of conflicts and tools for strengthening collective security in the Eurasian region;

  • cultural and educational ties as a resource for integration building;

  • The Great Patriotic War in the history of international relations: problems of preservation and distortion of historical memory;

  • the diplomatic heritage of A.A. Gromyko;

  • the role of the UN, its past and future in the system of international relations;

  • historical foundations of Russian-Belarusian unity (timed to coincide with the Year of Historical Memory in the Republic of Belarus);

  • “after the pandemic”: national problems and integration solutions.


Competitive works in the main and debut nominations must be designed in accordance with the rules for preparing scientific articles.



The works of the finalists of the competition will be published in a scientific collection of articles, the winners - in the leading scientific journals included in the list of VAK and Scopus (including the journal Modern Europe and MGIMO journals).


Prizes

Winners in the main nomination will receive valuable prizes - a laptop, tablet or smartphone. In the debut nomination - a smart watch, a fitness bracelet or an external hard drive. Prizes are also provided in special nominations by the decision of the jury. 40 finalists will be invited to the final of the competition at the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences.


According to the results of the debate, during which the works will be defended at the Forum of the finalists of the competition, the Jury can provide the winners with:

  • Grant for a research project, publication of a monograph or participation in a conference in Russia.

  • Grant for advanced training in leading Russian universities, including MGIMO.

  • Letter of recommendation for an internship at the Eurasian Economic Commission, MGIMO.


The competition also accepts works in a special nomination for journalistic essays on the topic: "The future of integration associations in international relations: new technologies, ideologies, unions."

The competitive essay is drawn up in a free form without strict adherence to the requirements for a scientific article.

Organizers: Association for Foreign Policy Research named after A.A. Gromyko, the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Belarus and the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences with the support of the Standing Committee of the Union State, MGIMO, the Eurasian Economic Commission, the CIS IFGS.
