Call for applications for a new round of InteRussia fellowship for rising IR professionals is now open

The Gorchakov Fund in partnership with MGIMO University opens a call for applications for a scientific and research fellowship programme on international relations for professionals called InteRussia.

 

InteRussia is an opportunity for aspiring experts in history, theory and practice of international relations, political science and area studies to get fully immersed into Russian academia, visit policy-making institutions, participate in expert sessions hosted by universities, think tanks and non-governmental organisations. The unique feature of the programme is that the selected participants will be able to work in close contact with and under the academic guidance of leading Russian IR scholars from MGIMO University.

 

The mission of InteRussia is to build a horizontal network of rising scholars from around the globe to foster fruitful academic dialogue on emerging IR perspectives in an increasingly multipolar world.


The outcome of the fellowship will be a draft of an original research project of 15,000-25,000 characters (incl. spaces) prepared by a participant on the basis of an individual research proposal in English.

 

Eligibility

In order to participate in the selection, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  1. non-Russian citizenship;

  2. age 25-39;

  3. place of residence outside of Russia;

  4. professional command of English (CERF C1 and higher);

  5. submission of a research proposal on the selected topic in accordance with the requirements specified in the application form;

  6. absence of any employment and other relations with MGIMO (including part-time external jobs). An applicant also must not be studying at the postgraduate programme or defending a thesis at MGIMO;

  7. PhD degree or at least 3 years of working experience in academic institutions/think tanks or postgraduate studies in progress.


Applicants for the fellowship will be selected on a competitive basis. The criteria of the competitive selection include:

  1. the academic level, relevance, maturity and feasibility of the applicant’s research proposal;

  2. academic publications;

  3. details from letters of recommendation (x2-3);

  4. other research and expert activities of the applicant (participation in conferences, grants, scientific fellowships, expert publications, comments for mass media, etc.)

  5. results of the online interview.


How to apply?

  • sign up using the English-language version of the Gorchakov Fund’s website.

  • in your profile, navigate to the “My Projects” tab and select “Create an application,” where you will mark the name of the program you are interested in and fill out the application form.

  • complete the online interview;

  • wait for the results.


Terms of participation

The organisers provide:

  • travel from a city of residence to Moscow and back;

  • single accommodation;

  • visa support;

  • medical insurance

  • scholarship for the duration of the fellowship in the amount of 45,000 rubles.


The participants pay for:

  • meals during their fellowship.
