The NGO Fellowship Program is a one-month-long opportunity for NGO professionals from South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Northeast Asia (including Japan, South Korea, and Mongolia) to gain first-hand experience in the Taiwanese NGO sector. The Program includes workshops, a three-week NGO placement, and roundtable events with the fellows’ Taiwanese counterparts.


Fellowship Schedule

- Sept. 29: Taipei arrival

- Sept. 30 - Oct 3: Workshop and site visits

- Oct. 4: Roundtable

- Oct. 5 - 24: Field placement

- Oct. 25: Wrap-up

- Oct. 26: Pride Parade in Taipei

- Oct. 27: Taipei departure


Who is it for?

  • Number of selected Fellows: 15

  • Age: NGO professionals from 25 to 40 years old.

  • Professions: Community development, environment, education, gender, human rights, media and information technology, LGBTQ+, medical service, and social welfare. Outstanding applicants from other NGO fields will also be considered.

  • Experience: At least three years of work experience in the NGO sector. Demonstrated professional excellence, independent and self-motivated, able to complete an independent fellowship.

Nationalities:

  • Southeast Asia: Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

  • South Asia: Bhutan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan.

  • Northeast Asia: Japan, South Korea, Mongolia.

  • Language: Proficiency in written and oral English, and fluent in Mandarin is a plus.


Sponsorship

Fellows’ expenses of flight, lodging (shared room), food, and transportation will be covered. Fellows will receive per diem during the three-week placement.

Applicants should fill in the registration form and upload documents, including:

  • A one-page CV, formatted to letter-size paper

  • A personal headshot

  • A personal statement (a one-page statement that explains the purpose of applying for the Fellowship, expectations, and a personal career plan)

  • 2 recommendations letters
