The Studia Baltica School will work on August 20-27, 2023 at the I. Kant Baltic Federal University (Kaliningrad). The event is supported by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russian Federation.


— The school will be held in Kaliningrad in the second half of August. This is a chance to usefully spend the end of summer in a Russian region with a unique history.

— This is a rare opportunity to listen to lectures by leading Russian and foreign experts in the field of memory policy and gain new practical skills.

— The participants of the School will have a rich entertainment program with excursions, including on the Baltic Sea coast. It is possible that someone at the end of the holiday season will be able to plunge into the waters of the inviting Baltic (of course, if you are lucky with the weather)!

— You will be able to find like-minded people, and possibly real friends from different parts of the post-Soviet space.


The main topics of the school:

1) Memory conflicts in "Greater Eurasia";

2) Ways to solve "mnemonic conflicts";

3) The plots of Russian and Soviet history that unite us;

4) Peaceful coexistence and interaction of national concepts of the past in the post-Soviet space;

5) Successful "cases" to counteract the falsification of history;

6) The introduction of plots of the common past and countering manipulation in the practice of teaching history;

7) Popularization of history in social networks and media.


Terms of participation:

1. Undergraduate students, undergraduates and graduate students of the humanities, as well as young teachers and journalists under the age of 35 who have passed a competitive selection can become participants of the School.

2. Knowledge of the Russian language is a mandatory requirement.

3. Participants are required to attend all classes and cultural events within the School.

4. The Organizing Committee of the School provides accommodation (double occupancy), meals and travel for participants from outside the Kaliningrad region.


Documents:

Candidates should send an e-mail stbaschool@gmail.com the following documents:


1. The completed questionnaire of the summer School participant in Russian (see the attached documents under the news);

2. A copy of the first page of the passport (for Russian participants — copies of the first page and the page with a residence permit);

3. A certificate from the place of study / work indicating the current status on the letterhead of the university / organization, certified by the signature and seal of the head of the organization / structural unit;

4. A short essay in Russian on any of the main topics of the School (up to 4000 characters).


! The documents must be filled in in Russian.

! Deadline for submission of documents: June 1, 2023.

! The selection of participants will be carried out by the competition commission, the participants will be notified of the results of the selection no later than June 5, 2023.

! The Competition Commission does not enter into correspondence with the participants and does not justify the results of the selection for participation in the School.
