On 26th February, the BRICS Policy Center hosted a new edition of “BRICS+ in Dialogue”. The webinar welcomed Professor Poppy Winanti from Universitas Gadjah Mada to share her insights on Indonesia’s accession as a new BRICS+ member and the opportunities for international collaboration.
Asfia Kulsoom, Project Associate for International and Regional Projects at the International Youth Edu-Skills Foundation joined the dialogue online on Zoom.
The “BRICS+ in Dialogue” was hosted by the Deputy Director of the BRICS Policy Center, Maria Elena Rodriguez.

In Professor Winant's opinion, Indonesia's choice to be part of BRICS was mostly motivated politically. Before even joining the BRICS, Indonesia has had strong economic relations with some of the BRICS members like China and India. However, she believes that being a part of BRICS will not only give Indonesia alternative International financial support but also a chance to be a part of the global South.
BRICS+ in Dialogue” is an initiative of the BRICS Policy Center that promotes debates with researchers from the new BRICS+ members.
