Venue LKSh-2022: Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences

The Summer Space School is a growing community of space enthusiasts. Every year we organize a nine-day intensive, which brings together dozens of people of different ages from different cities of our country, who are united by an interest in space.
The participant chooses one of the sections: cosmonautics, space communications and remote sensing, space medicine and biology, astrophysics or scientific journalism and immerses himself in the educational process for nine days. It includes lectures from experts, discussions, games, practical exercises and excursions to the most cosmic places in Moscow. At the end of the intensive, all participants work together on a space flight simulation, where everyone has their own role. This year we will go to the Red Planet.
School participants will become members of the crew of an international manned expedition to Mars. The mission will consist of several stages: unmanned delivery of cargo and equipment to Mars orbit, flight of two manned interplanetary spacecraft with expedition crews on board. Landing on the surface and actions on it to deploy a long-term settlement and conduct scientific research.
Depending on the section, they will face different tasks:
the space section will be responsible for determining the optimal launch window and trajectory planning, piloting of all space and ground equipment the space communications and remote sensing section will be responsible for maintaining communication between the crews and choosing a landing site based on the analysis of Mars remote sensing data the astrophysics and planetology section will analyze the scientific data from the instruments installed on the ships and ground vehicles of the expedition the space medicine section will monitor the psycho-physiological state of the crew, take measures for psychological unloading, calculate the stocks of food and hygiene products for the mission the science journalism section will cover the entire course of the expedition, publishing content on several specially created telegram channels
