The Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund in partnership with the Ministry for Youth Affairs of the Republic of Dagestan calls for applications for its research and educational program "The Caucasus Dialogue – 2022", which will take place in Makhachkala and Derbent (Dagestan, Russia).
Topic of the event: “The Caucasus in the changing world”.
Dates of the event: November 20-24, 2022.
Academic Advisor of the school – Sergey Markedonov, Senior Research Fellow of the Center for Euro-Atlantic Security, Institue for International Studies, MGIMO University, Editor-in-Chief of International Analytics Journal.
The program of the Dialogue includes lectures, roundtables, panel discussions and an interactive part. Top scholars in international relations, prominent political scientists, politicians, historians and representatives of non-governmental organizations will participate in the event as experts. The program will also offer visits of tourist attractions in the region.
Who can attend?
Representatives of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Abkhazia and South Ossetia, and regions of Russia. Experts in Caucasus studies from other countries are also invited to apply:
researchers in the area of international relations, political scientists, economists, lawyers, historians;
graduate and post-graduate students, professors of of field-specific higher educational institutions;
international journalists;
representatives of non-governmental organizations involved in international cooperation and public diplomacy;
young diplomats and representatives of governmental agencies.
Age of participants: 21-35.
A group of participants will be selected based on results of the competition.
How to attend?
1.Fill out an application form of the Gorchakov Fund;
2.Attach an essay/research paper not exceeding 5 000 characters on one of the following topics:
ways to resolve regional conflicts;
prospects of the Caucasus: how to make the regional economy effective?'
the Caucasus under conditions of confrontation between Russia and the West: risks and opportunities.
3. Attach a motivation letter (Why do you want to participate in the Caucasus Dialogue – 2022?)
The organizers will cover travel expenses to/from the event for authors of the best three essays.
Terms of participation:
the organizers will cover accommodation, meals and transfers included in the program. The Fund will also provide visa support to foreign participants.
the participants will be responsible for travel to/from the event, visa fees, medical insurance valid in Russia, a PCR test taken not earlier than November 19.
