Translation competition
Submission Deadline: May 31, 2022
Date of announcement of the results of the competition: until June 30, 2022
The scientific, educational, cultural, and educational center of the A. M. Gorky Literary Institute "House of National Literature" announces a translation competition dedicated to the 190th anniversary of the English writer and poet Lewis Carroll.
The work of Lewis Carroll is intricate and full of mysteries, and his prose, built on a linguistic game, captivates everyone. This is evidenced by the countless variety of translations of Carroll's fairy tales "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There".
For many generations of translators, they turn out to be an invaluable school, they contain extraordinary creative tasks. However, Carroll also owns many other works.
We invite everyone to try their hand at translating the first story from Carroll's book of mathematical and logical problems "A Tangled Tale" (download).
!! Important: to participate in the competition, the text must be translated independently, without focusing on existing translations.
The translation competition is held jointly with the S. G. Stroganov Moscow State Academy of Art and Industry, which organizes an illustration competition for Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass.
Participants need to fill out an application.
Materials for the competition are accepted until May 31, 2022, in electronic form at konkurs@litinstitut.ru
The results of the competition will be summed up by June 30, 2022.
