From November 29 to December 2, 2020, the VI BRICS Youth Summit was held in Ulyanovsk city of the Russian Federation under the slogan "BRICS: Challenges of the Time for Youth". Eight member delegation headed by Akil Mohammad, Founder President, International Youth Edu-Skills Foundation took part in the Summit. The delegation consisted of Young leaders, Researchers, Journalists and Professors residing in different regions of Russia.
The main goal of the Summit is to consider the best practices of youth cooperation among the BRICS member states and to develop specific proposals for further expanding humanitarian cooperation between the five countries.
On November 30, a plenary session was held on the topic: "The role of youth in expanding cooperation in the BRICS space", at which the Governor of the Ulyanovsk Region Sergey Morozov, Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs Grigory Gurov, Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Anton Inyutsyn, Scientific Director of the Expert Council on the preparation and maintenance of the Russian Federation's chairmanship in the BRICS association, Managing Director of the National Committee for BRICS Research Victoria Panova, Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Marat Bariev, Executive Director of the National Agency for Youth Development of the Republic of South Africa Vasim Karrim, curator of the "art" direction of the Association of Trade and Industrial Priyanka Bhardwaj Chambers of India,Elena Myakotnikova, Corporate Director of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives; and Andrey Khazin, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, Professor of a series of books dedicated to the BRICS member countries, and head of the authors' team.
In his speech, Grigory Gurov called the launch in Ulyanovsk of the Project Office of International Youth Cooperation in the Russia-BRICS direction as the main result of Russia's youth agenda in the "five".
“The project office is designed to unite the efforts of government agencies, public organizations, student and youth communities in order to support the systemic interaction of youth and youth organizations in Russia with colleagues from the BRICS countries. The key event of the Project Office will be the International Camp of the BRICS Countries, which will be held in the Ulyanovsk Region annually, starting in 2021 on the territory of the International IT Valley, the creation of which is being actively pursued, ” said Grigory Gurov.
Discussion sessions were also held in the following areas: volunteering, creative industries, official and public diplomacy, youth energy cooperation, as well as youth entrepreneurship and innovation. At the sessions, participants and experts presented successful practices of cooperation in the BRICS countries and presented new projects for their implementation in 2021-2023.
The above sessions were co-organized by executive authorities and major Russian public organizations: the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, the Council of Young Diplomats of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, the Association of Volunteer Centers, City Renovations, the Youth Energy Agency of the BRICS countries, the Russian-Chinese Committee for Friendship, Peace and Development, the organization "Leaders of International Cooperation", etc.
