On November 13-18, the BRICS National Research Committee will hold a scientific and educational event aimed at training young experts specializing in the study of this supranational bloc from political, economic, and humanitarian perspectives.
The school will take place after the historic BRICS summit in South Africa, during which six new members were admitted to the association. This event will strengthen cooperation and mutual understanding between young brixologists.
The program is held annually with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia. In 2023, it will take place with the support of the Presidential Grants Fund, the Gorchakov Foundation and the MGIMO of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The purpose of the School is to expand the pool of brixology experts for the further development of youth cooperation within the framework of BRICS, as well as to support promising projects and ideas of young leaders from the member states of the bloc.
The program is designed for young diplomats, scientists, journalists, entrepreneurs, undergraduates and postgraduates from Brazil, India, China, Russia, South Africa and BRICS Plus/Outreach aged 18 to 35 years. This year, representatives of the countries that will officially join the BRICS in 2024 will also be invited to participate in the event: Argentina, Egypt, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia.
Participants will take a comprehensive course, which will be divided into thematic modules organized jointly with partner organizations - leading analytical centers of Russia.
The mentors of the BRICS International School will be leading Russian and international experts and practitioners, representatives of government agencies and NGOs, and analytical centers. The program will allow participants to broaden their professional horizons, develop communication skills, study the specifics of the BRICS — the positions of the member states on the world stage, the prospects for institutionalizing the format of the organization, its goals and priorities.
This year, the VII International Scientific and Educational Program "BRICS School" is held in conjunction with a Contest of scientific essays on three topics to choose from:
Problems and prospects of BRICS expansion in modern conditions;
BRICS as a factor in the development of the world economy;
Problems and prospects of financing BRICS energy programs.
The winners of the competition will be invited to participate in further projects, including the BRICS International School, and their works will be published in a special issue of the MGIMO of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
